Leonardo Ferrand ‘09 LL.M. wasn’t expecting to have a life-changing experience when he enrolled in the inaugural class of the LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies program at St. John’s Law. After all, he hailed from a family of lawyers with deep roots in his native Dominican Republic, and he had earned his law degree from UNIBE, one of the country’s most prestigious universities. “Studying law at St. John’s opened my mind,” Ferrand recalls. “I knew how to interpret and apply the civil laws of my country, but my professors at St. John’s helped me develop new and very important legal reasoning skills.”
